Brother Power the Geek was a very short lived (two issue) comic book series released by DC comics in 1968. Originally titled Brother Power the Freak, the name was changed to avoid obvious references to the prevalent drug culture of the time. Brother Power the Geek came into being after a mannequin was found in a deserted tailer's shop. After a hippie named Nick draped his wet clothes over it to dry, the mannequin was struck by lightining, giving it not only life, but superhuman powers including speed and strength. True to "his" hippie origins, Brother Power was androgynously styled with white face, rosy cheeks and a mop of blonde hair. The emblem worn on the front of Brother Power's sweater, far bottom left, even resembles the universal transgender symbol (below) more than the traditional male or female gender symbol.
